Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling will join CVS Corp. in presenting a $2 million check to the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease on the field of Fenway Park Friday.

The money, raised through a customer donation campaign held by more than 5,400 CVS stores nationwide, will help fight Lou Gehrig's disease or ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), an illness that attacks the central nervous system.

The ALS research initiative at Massachusetts General Hospital was established two years ago with funding from CVS/pharmacy's first customer donation campaign for ALS, which raised $1.7 million in 2003.

CVS Corp. (NYSE: CVS - News), based in Woonsockett, R.I., reported $30.6 billion in revenues in 2004.
