Where Awareness and Advocacy Continue

Rockin & Remembering
ALS March of Faces is pleased to find that a concert was given June the 3rd in memory of Kyle George Hahn. This event is sponsored by the patients and families of the ALSA Central & Southern Ohio Chapter. Four different bands rocked the night away at the Southgate House in Newport, KY. and donations went to the Ohio Chapter. Those of you who knew Kyle remember his days of advocacy and his tough approach to the media. Kyle was a great guitar player but speaking out for ALS took him to Dateline NBC in 1997 to ask the nation why the FDA was slow to approve Myotrophin (IGF-1, subcutaneous injection). The segment was called "Borrowed Time". Two years later, 1999 in response to a story that 60 Minutes did of Dr. Kevorkian completing an assisted suicide on an ALS patient, Kyle demanded equal time to tell the nation that ALS was about surviving life. This segment was called "Choosing Life".
At the highpoint of these events an awareness organization was created by Kyle called the ALS March of Faces. Faces of people with the same illness, ordinary people, famous people, just real people with ALS.
This organization still today supplies local banners to many different organizations as well as several chapters of the ALS Association. ALS March of Faces is returning to the awareness vision Kyle created, a silent but powerful statement using the very proud Faces of Courage. As ALS March of Faces grows the banner here and abroad we leave fund raising to those organizations who's main goal is finding a cure by funding research.
March of Faces is honored to have the Central-Southern Ohio Chapter recognize Kyle for his contributions to the ALS community.
