09/23/2007: "The Results Are In"

Hi everyone. I know that it has been a long time since my last entry and some have expressed concern as to my condition. I am doing well. I am recovering from a bout with allergies and an extra nasty sinus infection. It happens this same time every year but with some claritin and antibiotics, I am starting to feel better. Also my sister has been visiting us from Washington State and it has been a busy but very enjoyable time. She came in to join me and my ALS walk team "Tope's Hope" for our annual Walk to D'Feet ALS which appeared to be a very successful event again this year.

In my previous post I talked about the cognitive testing that I went through. I felt that I did not do well at all on the testing. The doctor called and said that I had some mild cognitive involvement "as could be expected". Those results were a relief. At least that is (my brain that is) something that ALS is not taking from me. This disease has taken way too much already! More soon.....Debbie

Hi Debbie:
I am happy that you are feeling better, these fall allergies can be nasty! Also very happy to hear that your cognitive testing went well: that's a relief, I am sure. And congratulations on your successful walk. We are just starting to think about our next one (May 2008).
Be strong, feel well, and enjoy your visit with your sister! Thinking of you and sending good wishes your way.

Hello Debbie: I just came across your story and felt compelled to write. My father died from ALS almost 11 years ago (October 26th) and I occassionally search the internet for updates on the treatment of ALS. He too, saw Dr. Mitsumoto at the Cleveland Clinic. I miss him terribly each and every day. It seems like yesterday that he passed, and then it feels like forever since I have seen him. Your story is so inspiring, so hopeful. Your faith is amazing. As I read your postings I can't help think how brave you are to combat this disease head on. Truly a fighter. You will be in my prayers.
