10/03/2007: "ALS Walk 2007"

Sunday, September 16, 2007 was a bright beautiful day at the Fred Beekman Park, OSU Campus in Columbus, Ohio. Tope's Hope walk team joined the Central & Southern Ohio Chapter Walk to D’Feet ALS® again this year as we have for the past seven years and we will keep on walking to raise money to help patients live with ALS. The money raised from the ALS Association Walk to D’Feet ALS® is used for respite care services to help families cope, education, awareness, augmentative communications devices and research to find the cure.
As always I look lifeless and hopeless but that is ALS robbing me of my muscles to walk, hold my head up and facial expression and is not how I really feel. Despite what ALS has taken from me, I am a happy PALS (person w/ALS). I continue to enjoy life. I know in my heart that some day there will be a cure for ALS. Thank you for your generous donations. We are grateful for your support. Thank you again for your commitment to the fight against ALS. Together we will end this devastating disease. Donations can continue to be made to Tope's Hope............Debbie

I am a new DX as of 9/21/07 and at first I was devasstated, but I am an LCSW and still working but my voice is affected and most of my patients do understand me lucklily. I too am living one day at a time on hope and a prayer for a cure to come along. My small church team walked to De feet ALS on Sunday Oct 14 and we raised over $1000. I felt their love and it was a beautiful day. I will attend support group on Nov 1 with My so as My Neurologist will be talking about cutting edge treatments and developments. I next go to clinic in February and will evaluate continuing working on Easter. I see you are in an electric chair and wonder how soon I will need one. My ALS is Bolus onset and hopefully slow developing . I take a bunch of vitimins and try to eat healthy. I choke and drool some and feel like an idiot then.
Thanks for your blog it gives me a connection. You will be in My prayers. Peace.
