11/07/2007: "It's Here!"
This week has been very busy and exciting for me. My augmentative communication device arrived late last week and I LOVE IT. Many times when getting a new piece of equipment, it just doesn't live up to your expectations, but not this, it is all I hoped for and more. This device is a Quick Glance 3 system by Eye Tech and uses the Viking Communicator 3 Pro software. The system is very versitile and can be controlled in many ways but I love the eye tracking feature which uses your eyes to control the cursor and an eye blink is the same as a mouse click. It is very easy to set up and I am finding it very easy to use. Actually I am quite surprised as I thought it would take a long time to learn. I have heard stories of how difficult some systems are to set up and learn and even how some PALS just give up trying. Not this one, it is not only easy to use but actually quite fun for me. I haven't used it enough yet to know all the features but keep finding new things daily. As I continue to lose my strength and voice, even as slowly as I am, it is comforting to know that I can still have a voice and be able to use the computer and even control my environment such as the TV and lights using this system. It is great.
Thank you again to Todd at Forbes Rehab Solutions for getting me set up with the right system and for his patience in getting it all functioning for me. I highly recommend Todd and Forbes to anyone. If anyone would want their contact imformation, just e-mail me and I would be glad to share it with you. I do believe that they only service Ohio and surrounding areas. I will share more soon and maybe even a picture of me using it.........Debbie

I am so glad you got your new toy and updated your Blog. I am gradually loosing my voice to ALS but still trying to work as my limbs still have strength. My hope is for a cure in our life times amd my hope is in Christ, Jesus. I pray you will hang in there and be able to benefit from new meds and maybe even stem cell research. Peace Lisa

Hi! Debbie..
What a lovely site (s) you have..
I think the 'Fiddle stick', page is so beautiful too..Well Done Debbie! You are clever!!
Anyway..back to comments..
Your new commmunication device..Sounds out of this world..Wow!
Recently I lost an email friend of almost five years, with Als..Lanie had had it for ten years,
so you are doing Very Well aren't you..
A few years ago, she had a device, sorta like yours..but I expect they have come on in leaps and bounds since.. Think she tried to use it for over a year..it was called 'Brainfingers',but in the end, she had to give up on it, as it was too hard..just like you put in you Blog..I love your Blog, what a good idea..to have on your site..
So I have been 'Really Thrilled for You', that you get on real Tickety-Boo! with yours..
I was really impressed, when you explained that it can also be used in many different ways too..
Some days, [when you are more used to it.Of course..]You could use it, one way and keep trying all the other ways too..WOW! That would mean that your new toy, would always remain 'NEW'!!Bringing the newness of it, back again and again..'NEWNESS'!!LOL!...
What fun!! But I really think you should find a
Name, for it..As it is so helpful...With humourous overtones, of course...
Why not have a surf, and find out the Name, of a really well known, and helpful, Knight of days of old.. Shining silver armour and all!!WOW! LOL!!
You'll have to put on your 'Thinking Cap',
though...[I've got a Great Thinking Cap..Not only is it Great, for new ideas, but it also turns cool, for the Summer, and Warm to Sizzling ,for Winter months,
It does have an adjustable switch, so you don't have to Sizzle if you don't want to...LOL!
Thats my close friend imangination, just butted in..My Goddness! he is so very clever too,
I just don't know , what I'd do without him?!!!
I will pop in again to see you, if I may..I love the way you write.. very interesting Debbie..
Take Much Care,
Hope You have a Very! Very! Comfortable and Good day,in the Lord..
Lovely to meet you Debbie...
You are in My Thoughts and Prayers..
All My Love And Sincere Good Thoughts.
