12/15/2007: "A Beautiful Gift!"

I have always enjoyed art, especially paintings. I do admire the talent of a
good artist who is able to express their feelings so well on a blank canvas. I
used to love to watch one such talented artist named Bob Ross, the
soft-spoken artist with the bushy hair on PBS. I know that he had his critics
because of his style but he made me want to paint which I did for a while but
unfortunately that was one of the first things ALS took from me. I do enjoy
working with graphics on my computer but it is not quite the same.

Now to the story. I recently had an appointment at my pulmonary doctor who
I will call Dr. R. I have been to his office numerous times and have noticed the
artwork, much of it being religious themed, hanging in different locations
throughout the office. I had also been told that Dr. R. was a painter and that
much of that artwork was painted by him. This past visit I had Chris tell the
Dr. that I admired his artwork which really seem to please him as he went on
to tell us about a piece he just finished and an idea for his next work. About a
week or so had gone by after that appointment and I was feeling very low both
physically and especially mentally. It was a cold and rainy night at about
9:30pm on a day that was especially trying for me when we heard a knock at
the door. At the door was Dr. R. which scared and surprised both Chris and I.
We live in a very remote location and don't get a lot of visitors especially at
night and especially a doctor. What kind of bad news must he be bringing? He
was carrying a tube and said that he had something for me. He then opened
the tube to show me a print of one of his paintings. It was a painting of Jesus
on the cross which was the painting hanging on the wall of the exam room that
I had been in last. All I could do was cry. I couldn't express my gratitude to
him in any way that night. It was such an act of kindness and it totally
overwhelmed me. Chris went out the next day and found the perfect frame
and hung it next to my chair. I look at this beautiful painting many times
throughout the day now and think of the generousity of Dr. R. and also the
sacrifice that my Savior made for me. I am blessed........Debbie

BURDENS ARE THINGS GOD TURNS INTO WINGS.
By Helen Steiner Rice..

'OH FOR THE WINGS OF A BIRD,WE CRY,
TO CARRY US OFF TO AN UNTROUBLED SKY,
WHERE WE CAN DWELL UNTOUCHED BY CARE,
AND ALWAYS BE FREE AS A BIRD IN THE AIR--
BUT THERE IS A LEGEND THAT'S VERY OLD,
NOT OFTEN HEARD AND SELDOM TOLD,
THAT ONCE ALL BIRDS, WERE WINGLESS TOO,
UNABLE TO SOAR THROUGH
THE SKIES OF BLUE--
FOR, WHILE THEIR PLUMAGE WAS BEAUTIFULLY BRIGHT,
AND THEIR CHIRPING SONGS WERE LILTINGLY LIGHT,
THEY, TOO, WERE POWERLESS
TO FLY.
UNTIL ONE DAY WHEN THE LORD CAME BY,
AND LAID AT THE FEET OF THE SINGING BIRDS
GOSSAMER WINGS AS HE SPOKE THESE WORDS:
"COME TAKE THESE BURDENS, SO HEAVY NOW,
BUT IF YOU BEAR THEM YOU'LL LEARN SOMEHOW.
THAT AS SOON AS YOU WEAR THEM THEY'LL GROW LIGHT,
AND SOON YOU CAN LIFT YOURSELF INTO 'FLIGHT'-
SO FOLDING THE WINGS BENEATH THEIR HEARTS,
AND AFTER ENDLESS FAILURES AND STARTS,
THEY LIFTED THEMSELVES AND FOUND WITH DELIGHT
THE WINGS THAT WERE HEAVY
HAD GROWN SO LIGHT-
SO LET US,TOO , LISTEN TO GOD'S WISE WORDS,
FOR WE ARE MUCH LIKE THE 'WINGLESS BIRDS'"
AND IF WE WOULD SHOULDER OUR DAILY TRIALS,
AND LEARN TO WEAR THEM WITH SUNNY SMILES,
WE'D FIND THEY WERE WINGS, THAT GOD HAD SENT
TO LIFT US ABOVE OUR HEART'S DISCONTENT-
FOR THE WINGS THAT LIFT US OUT OF DESPAIR,
ARE MADE BY GOD FROM THE WEIGHT OF OUR CARE,
SO WHENEVER YOU CRY FOR 'THE WINGS OF A BIRD',
REMEMBER THIS LITTLE LEGEND YOU'VE HEARD,
AND LET GOD GIVE YOU A HEART THAT SINGS,
AS HE TURNS YOUR BURDENS TO 'SILVER WINGS'..

MAY I NOW WISH DEBBIE, AND ALL THAT VISIT HER SITE, A VERY HAPPY AND HEALTHIER NEW YEAR...
NEVER LOOK DOWN, BUT GET INTO THE HABIT OF LOOKING AT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BACKDROP OF NATURE, THAT THE LORD HAS GIVEN US....
THEREFORE, GROWING MORE FASCINATED, BY THE NEVER ENDINGLY, COLOURS OF ALL SHADES AND BEAUTY...
WHICH WILL SEEMINGLY CHANGE COLOUR, AS THE DAY DOES..
GOD BLESS YOU ALL..
AMEN X+

Hi! Debbie..
What a lovely Testimony, to share with
us all, thank you so much..About the Lords Holy Working, in your life,Debbie..
What a wondrous thing, to have happened to you..
The Lord's timing,
is always right spot on,
never, one second too late, or too early.
Just placed in ones heart ,when it really needs it..a true reminder, that He is with you,by your side, just at your elbow..
ALWAYS!
*
I know, all who read's it, are going to be truly blessed...
There might be someone, who is feeling, just like you were, that evening, for some reason or another...
Perhaps, they have taken a wrong turning,
maybe just a short
cul-de-sac,
from that narrow path, we walk along..
Good to know, that the Lord, isn't just on the narrow path only,
He is 'ALWAYS' searching for his lost sheep..
And with Great
determination..
He searches onward,
untill he finds them..
Picks them up, hold's them close to His heart. where they can get a bit warmer, and then takes them back to their flock..
The Lord is MY Shepherd
I shall Never want..

'He will be very gracious unto thee at
at the voice of thy cry; when He shall hear it,
He will answer thee.'

Isaiah 30: Verse 19.
