It's Here!

This week has been very busy and exciting for me. My augmentative communication device arrived late last week and I LOVE IT. Many times when getting a new piece of equipment, it just doesn't live up to your expectations, but not this, it is all I hoped for and more. This device is a Quick Glance 3 system by Eye Tech and uses the Viking Communicator 3 Pro software. The system is very versitile and can be controlled in many ways but I love the eye tracking feature which uses your eyes to control the cursor and an eye blink is the same as a mouse click. It is very easy to set up and I am finding it very easy to use. Actually I am quite surprised as I thought it would take a long time to learn. I have heard stories of how difficult some systems are to set up and learn and even how some PALS just give up trying. Not this one, it is not only easy to use but actually quite fun for me. I haven't used it enough yet to know all the features but keep finding new things daily. As I continue to lose my strength and voice, even as slowly as I am, it is comforting to know that I can still have a voice and be able to use the computer and even control my environment such as the TV and lights using this system. It is great.

Thank you again to Todd at Forbes Rehab Solutions for getting me set up with the right system and for his patience in getting it all functioning for me. I highly recommend Todd and Forbes to anyone. If anyone would want their contact imformation, just e-mail me and I would be glad to share it with you. I do believe that they only service Ohio and surrounding areas. I will share more soon and maybe even a picture of me using it.........Debbie

Under attack!

I know that it has been a very long time since I last posted. I am doing well personally but unfortunately my blog and other parts of my web-site are not so fortunate. Instead of posting and doing updates as I should, much of my time has been spent on cleaning up and repairing what spammers and malicious people are doing to my web-site. While I value everyone's comments on this blog, I have been forced to turn off comments on most of my entries and may have to turn off all comments. It is unfortunate that a handfull of low-lifes have to try to ruin what I have labored so long to create. They forced me to shut down my "Focus Talk" chat area twice until I gave it up. They are constantly invading my guestbook, message board, and e-mail program as well. I really don't understand what these people get from this and why even one person would respond to what garbage they put out there but evidently some people must respond to it. I just wanted everyone to know why, even though I value and want your comments, I am taking that option away on some posts.

I do have some very good news. More in a couple of days......Debbie
